Mohan graduated from Photography-Still and Motion at Mohawk College, Hamilton. He was passionate about photography and began taking photos as a hobby in 2011. He took it up as a career as he developed an interest in capturing moments surrounding him which always kept him inspired. He says that the camera allowed him to see life from a different perspective and to have the opportunity to explore different places, cultures, and lifestyles. Mohan's lifetime goal is to make award-winning documentary films or photo series based on real stories. Playing with lighting, composition and camera movements are some of his strongest storytelling techniques. Outside his work, he loves to hang out with friends and loves to take a hike in nature or wander in city streets. He makes sure to go out and explore at least once a week because he believes there's always something new to learn around us
Scott works as a sound engineer for Modern Scientist Global. He graduated from Brock University with a background in child and youth studies. Scott is a seasoned drummer of over 20 years, and has played a variety of music festivals around the country including a tour in Japan. He has had the opportunity to play at venues such as the Budweiser stage in Toronto to 15,000+ people.
Aside from his music performances, Scott has experience teaching English as a second language and being an overall mentor. Scott practices a spiritual lifestyle, engaging in meditative practices, which he incorporates into his work and life as a whole. Scott identifies as a vegetarian peacekeeper at heart, with an affinity for nature and animals. Scott's work related interests include: producing and writing music, videography, photography and anything artistic. He also has skills in writing and composing beats for various types of songs and music.
Outside of work, Scott likes to write music, connect with friends, explore and connect with nature, travel, and just have a good time.
Angelika graduated from the University of Guelph with a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience. She gained the opportunity to study abroad at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and cultivate cultural experiences with amazing people. While completing her undergraduate degree, Angelika conducted research concerning neuroscience, explicit memory, word retrieval and recognition processes. Before joining Modern Scientist Global as a KT&D Intern, Angelika worked as a Research Assistant at Mental Health Research Canada where she was responsible for advancing research initiatives related to government mental health priorities with a focus on vulnerable populations. In the future, she would love to work as a Medical Illustrator or as a Data Visualization/Information Designer in order to create compelling and impactful visuals.
In her spare time, she enjoys painting, looking at art, playing video games and spending quality time with her pets.
Salgai Akseer graduated with a Bachelor degree in Public Health from Brock University with a focus on Health Promotion. She is passionate about mental health and advocates for the importance of practicing mindfulness, positivity and kindness every single day. Salgai wishes to raise mass awareness on global health issues that have been neglected and require attention in the near future.
Salgai’s other interests include being active through a variety of different sports, traveling, walking, music and fashion.
Andrea Vicencio is a recent graduate from the University of Ottawa with an Honours Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science and a specialization in Cellular and Molecular Medicine. Andrea worked as a research assistant with the Silasi Lab at the Ottawa General Hospital, where she worked in the area of animal stroke research and rehabilitation. While working at Ottawa General Hospital, she completed her honours thesis in quantifying and 3D modelling stroke infarct volume in mice. Andrea also volunteered with Women’s Health Education Made Easy (WHEMs) Canada to provide infographics for educational purposes across various social media platforms. Andrea aims to pursue further education in the field of women’s health and provide resources for marginalized groups that cannot obtain maternal healthcare.
In her free time, Andrea loves sewing, thrift shopping, cooking, and looking for the newest restaurant in town.
